1 Introduction 

1.1 Purpose This document describes how to create a copy of an Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 system using Rapid Clone. The most current version of this document can be obtained in My Oracle Support Knowledge Document 1383621.1, Cloning Oracle E-Business Suite with Rapid Clone.  

Note: This knowledge document supersedes Chapter 17 of Oracle E-Business Suite Setup Guide, Part No. E22953, and should be used instead of that chapter.  

1.2 Background Oracle have made big change in application architecture from release 12.1.3 to 12.2.4, oracle introduced a new file system in release 12.2.4. Edtition based file system, means oracle has provided 2 file systems one is RUN_EDITION and the other one is PATCH_EDITION, concept behind this architecture is to reduce the downtime of application for patching purpose.   

As per file architecture has been changed now we need to follow different steps to we used to follow to do rapid clone in release 12.1.3. We only need to copy relevant files from source  apps tier  to target apps tier, while the DB node rapid clone procedure is  same as it was in release 12.1.3.  

1.3 Scope & Application Scope and application of this document is for rapid clone procedure in oracle ebs release 12.2.4. This document is related to oracle ebs apps dba responsibility for cloning of production system.

2 Prerequisite  

2.1 Verify disk space requirements on Source System 

Oracle Fusion Middleware cloning tools require 6GB in /tmp and 6GB under $COMMON_TOP 

2.2  Verify OS requirements on Target System 

Before cloning to a new server, ensure the Target System meets all the requirements for Oracle EBusiness Suite Release 12.2 

2.3  Verify Source and Target System software components and versions 

Zip 2.3(higher): Unzip 5.52(higher) : Perl 5.x 

2.4  Check for in-progress online patching cycle 

On the Source system, there should not be any in-progress online patching cycle. Online patching should be done till cleanup stage and also fs_clone should be run to synchronize with the application file system RUN and PATCH.  

You can check it easily by below command: SQL> select ADOP_SESSION_ID,PREPARE_STATUS,APPLY_STATUS,FINALIZE_STATUS,CUTOVER_STATUS,CLEANUP_S TATUS,ABORT_STATUS,STATUS,ABANDON_FLAG,NODE_NAME from AD_ADOP_SESSIONS order by ADOP_SESSION_ID; 

2.5   OS and Patch Level 

Source and Target must be on the same Operating System (OS) and patch level 

2.6   AD/TXK Patches Apply the latest AD/TXK patches to the Source system. 

You can check the lastet version by below SQL statement.

3 Prepare the Source Systems 

3.1 Prepare the Source System Database Tier for cloning 

Log on to the Source System as the ORACLE user, and run the following commands: 

$ cd <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>/appsutil/scripts/<CONTEXT_NAME>

3.2 Prepare the Source System Application Tier for cloning 

Log on to the “Run Edition File System” in the Source System as the APPLMGR user, and run the following commands on each Node that contains an APPL_TOP: 

You can use the following command to confirm that the environment variable 

FILE_EDITION points to the Run Edition File System: 

$ echo $FILE_EDITION 

It should return the value: Run 

$ cd <INST_TOP>/admin/scripts 

$ perl adpreclone.pl appsTier 

The adpreclone.pl process on the Application Tier creates a complete compressed archive of the Oracle 

Fusion Middleware and its components as follows: 

• A compressed archive of the Oracle WebLogic Server home, Oracle Web Tier Utilities home, Oracle Common Utilities home and the Oracle  E-Business Suite home: 

<COMMON_TOP>/clone/FMW/FMW_Home.jar 

• A compressed archive of the Oracle E-Business Suite Weblogic domain: 

<COMMON_TOP>/clone/FMW/WLS/EBSdomain.jar 

• The Oracle E-Business Suite Weblogic domain’s configuration template: 

<COMMON_TOP>/clone/FMW/WLS/plan/moveplan.xml 

• A compressed archive of the Oracle Web Tier/Oracle HTTP Server Cloning Oracle E-Business Suite with Rapid Clone 17-9 configuration instance:

4 Maintain snapshot information 

Log in to each Source Application Tier node as the APPLMGR user, and run “Update current view snapshot” in AD Administration. adadmin > “2. Maintain Applications Files menu” > “4. Maintain snapshot information” > “2. Update current view snapshot” > “1. Update Complete APPL_TOP”

6 Copy the Source System to the Target System  

6.1  Copy the Database Node file system  

$cp -RH /u01/oracle/VIS/db /u01/oracle/DESTINATION  

Copy the database (.dbf) files from the Source System to the Target System 

Copy the Source System database ORACLE_HOME to the Target System  

6.2 Copy apps Tier EBSapps dir. from Source “Run Edition” to Target “Run Edition” 

$cp -RH /u02/oracle/VIS/fs1/EBSapps /u02/oracle/DESITINATINO • <APPL_TOP> 

• <COMMON_TOP>

• The Source “Run Edition File System” has the following values:

Copy the Source “Run Edition File System” into the Target/u02/oracle/VIS/fs1 directory.

7 Configure the Target System  

7.1 Configure the Target System database server  

Log on to the Target System as the ORACLE user and enter the following commands: 

oracle@k2> cd $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/clone/bin oracle@k2> perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier    

Enter the APPS password :  

Provide the values required for creation of the new Database Context file.  

Target System Hostname (virtual or normal) [k2] :  Target Instance is RAC (y/n) [n] : n
