Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 Installation Steps

Pre Requisites

• Disable SELINUX as follows:
• [root@erp Desktop]# vi /etc/selinux/config 
• SELINUX=disabled 
• Restart Machine to take changes to effect
• Setup Networking 

We need to install all required packages specified in Oracle E-Business Suite Installation and Upgrade Notes Release 12 (12.2) for Linux x86-64 (Doc ID 1330701.1) or alternatively we can use oracle pre-install RPMs. I’ll be using oracle pre-install RPMs as it is simple and fulfills all prerequisites.

 Now build Stage area as follows; 
[root@erp Stage_Area_Zip_Files]# cd /Share/StageR122/startCD/Disk1/rapidwiz/bin/ 
[root@erp bin]# ./buildStage.sh   

 Enter choice [1]   
 Enter choice [2] 

 Enter [Y] as we are going for fresh installation we don’t need to download vision files. Building stage area will start now as follows;   

 Download  md5 checksums results from the oracle and validate the integrity of the stage area as follows; 
root@erp bin]# cd /Share/StageR122/ 
[root@erp StageR122]# ls 
EBSInstallMedia  md5_startCD_12.2.0.48.txt  startCD  TechInstallMedia  TechPatches 
[root@erp StageR122]# md5sum --check md5_startCD_12.2.0.48.txt > md5sum_result.txt  
8. Relink All Libraries 

 Restart Machine then run following command to link all libraries. 
[root@erp /]# ldconfig   
9. Modify Link 
[root@erp/]# unlink /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6 
[root@erp/]# ln -s /usr/X11R6/lib/libXtst.so.6.1 /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6  
10. Domain Name System (DNS) Resolver Parameters 
root@erp /]# vi /etc/resolv.conf 
update the following entries to these minimum settings 
options attempts:5 options timeout:15  

11. Installation 
 Run ping command 
[root@erp /]# ping erp 
PING erp.fahad (10.0.2.15) 56(84) bytes of data. 
64 bytes from erp.fahad (10.0.2.15): icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.034 ms 
64 bytes from erp.fahad (10.0.2.15): icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.048 ms 
64 bytes from erp.fahad (10.0.2.15): icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.077 ms 
64 bytes from erp.fahad (10.0.2.15): icmp_seq=4 ttl=64 time=0.094 ms 

 Make directories as follows 
[root@erp Desktop]# cd / 
[root@erp /]# mkdir u01 
[root@erp u01]# mkdir oracle  Following is my users and group structure. Users are created automatically by oracle pre-install RPM. I’ll be using single user oracle and group dba for both DB and APPS for simplicity.  
 Give permissions and change ownership of Directory /u01/ as follows; 
[root@erp /]# chown -R oracle:dba /u01/* 
[root@erp /]# chmod -R 775 /u01/*  Create oraInventory directory as follows; 
[root@erp /]# cd /u01/ 
[root@erp u01]# mkdir oraInventory  Manually create oraInst.loc as follows; 
[root@erp /]# vi /etc/oraInst.loc 
inventory_loc=/u01/oraInventory  Now go to the directory where stage area was built and run following command to start installation. 
 [root@erp /]# cd /Share/StageR122/startCD/Disk1/rapidwiz/ 
[root@erp rapidwiz]# ./rapidwiz 

 Ports can be edited but I’ll be going with standard ports   
 Installation is complete and all post installation checks passed. Now click next to continue. 
 Click ‘Connect to Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2’ and then click finish to finish installation.  

12.   In case of Failed Installation 
 If installation is failed follow following steps and restart installation. 1. cd /u01/ 2. rm –rf oracle 3. Delete all file from oraInventory directory. 4. Empty /tmp folder 5. Restart installation by command ./rapidwiz  
13.   Oracle EBS R12.2 Structure 
 /u01/oracle/PROD/11.2.0/ : Database directory  /u01/oracle/PROD/fs1/ : Run File System  /u01/oracle/PROD/fs2/ : Patch File System  /u01/oracle/PROD/fs_ne/ : A non-editioned file system used to store files containing data that is needed across all file systems. Concurrent processing log files and outputs are also located on the none-editioned file system (fs_ne). 
14.   Shutting down Application and database
